AUO Corporation ("AUO" or the "the Company") (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) announced today that its latest range of small-medium sized panels will be showcased at the FPD Taiwan 2005. As a show of its latest technological breakthroughs, at the top of the list is the award-winning world's first Double-Sided AMOLED, in addition to its PMOS LTPS panels. On the product side, applications for car navigation, portable DVD, DSC, and DVC TFT-LCD modules will be displayed. For the first time, the company will showcase a large-scale exhibition solely for mobile phone application with a full range of sizes and specific unique technologies, including dual TFT displays, LTPS, and an AMOLED, which will be on production later this year. At this exhibition AUO's aggressive stance for mobile phone application industry is clearly stated.

In recent years, AU Optronics' progress in OLED development is quite evident, attracting attentions at each turn. On show this time is the company's 2" full color AMOLED. With ultra high 10,000:1 contrast ratio and less than 1 ms response time, it displays immaculate quality motion pictures. Its exceptional capabilities make it ideal for handset filming or broadcasting multimedia MTV, which are increasing in market demand. This particular 2" AMOLED model is scheduled for mass production targeted for the higher-end markets. Another eye-catching handset model is a brand new 2.4" AMOLED mobile phone panel with QVGA resolution that is also attractive.

In the LTPS Technological showcase area, on display is the 2.2" LTPS panel produced via PMOS technology. PMOS as compared to CMOS production has substantial cost savings as it can save up to 2-3 TFT mask processing. This technological development enables AUO's LTPS production to be more cost effective with competitive yields. Within the LTPS product line already in production, the most prominent is the 2.5" LTPS DSC application panel, qualified with 960x240 high resolution. These qualities may become the up and coming trend for future DSCs.

Another part of the exhibition is the wide selection of panel sizes for mobile phone applications. First time on show is a 2" Dual TFT module with high color saturation, single light-guide technology and compact size, ideal for clamshell camera phone. Another model newly introduced is the 1.9" 262k color transmissive panel specified with 400 nits super high brightness and wide viewing angle. Also at its debut, the 1.6" 262k color TFT-LCD handset panel, targeted as a replacement for Color STN-LCD handset panels. Scheduled for mass production in 3Q 2005, AUO's 2.2" LTPS thin and slim module for mobile phone application has quality specifications of high brightness, high resolution, high color saturation, high density, and premium wide viewing angle. This model is ideal for the middle-high handset market, ready to quench the new wave of demands for handsets industry.

As a reflection of the company's aggressive developments, AUO's grand exhibit consists of almost one hundred small-medium sized panels exhibited by multiple-displays per showcase. Dr. Poyen Lu, Executive Vice President of Audio Video Business Group expressed that AU Optronics' assertiveness in the handset and audio video markets has matured. Small-medium sized are mainly for consumer electronic product applications. How to be on target of the latest trends and movements in the market and more importantly to design products that can quench these needs is and will be the key to a company's ultimate success. Equipped with TFT-LCD, OLED, and LTPS, AU Optronics is confident and has what it takes to fulfill the future needs and demands of its customers around the globe.
