AUO Corporation ("AUO" or the "Company") (TAIEX: 2409; NYSE: AUO) today announced that the Company has been named to Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for eight consecutive years, standing out from the ITC Electronic Equipment, Instruments & Components sector, and once again being internationally recognized for its outstanding achievements in sustainable business operation and green innovation.

 

The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index criteria emphasize on the integration of economic and sustainable practices. This year AUO performed extraordinary well in every dimension of the criteria. Of the 22 assessed items, AUO scored the highest in many of them among the 50 companies of the sector, including Innovation Management in the Economic Dimension; Climate Strategy, Environmental Policy & Management Systems in the Environmental Dimension; and 7 items including Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy in the Social Dimension, demonstrating the Company's proactive attitude toward not only display product and technological innovation, but also environmental and social care, working hand in hand with all its stakeholders.

 

Since the establishment of the AUO CSR Committee in 2013, AUO has strengthened its sustainability risk management, and pragmatically implement a solid business continuity plan to control its risks. AUO has also long devoted to balancing corporate operation and sustainable development. For instance, in recent years the Company has accelerated the development of solar projects, with solar power plants and systems completed all across Taiwan, including government-owned buildings, communities and factories. As of the end of year 2016, the Company has achieved an accumulated 179 successful projects with a total installed capacity of 66MW. AUO has also made considerable efforts to promote science and environmental education, making good use of its resources and industry expertise to create additional values for the society. For instance, since 2016 AUO initiated the “Dada’s Magic Science Camp”, featuring informative and fun courses for interested middle school students with financial difficulties. To date, as many as 143 middle schools with a total of 256 students have participated, prompting the Company to contribute continuously in the knowledge education and cultivation of science talents in Taiwan.
